Philip Freedman CBE, property development lawyer and partner at Mishcon de Reya, has been appointed be the Queen’s Counsel honoris causa.

The appointment was ratified by the Queen after the department of justice’s recommendation in recognition of ‘his work developing the practical aspects of property law’.

Freedman has been with London-based lawyers Mishcon de Reya for 38 years and specialises in property development and leasehold work for investors, developers and lenders.

In 2005 he was awarded a CBE in recognition of his longstanding services to property law.

He said: ‘It is a fantastic honour to be appointed a Queen’s Counsel and to be recognised by the Department of Justice in this way.
