Miss Sixty, the young fashion brand, has put its retail business in administration.

Sixty UK has hired Vantis, the accountancy firm to run a "corporate restructuring".

As reported in Property Week in March it planned to close up to six of its eight UK stores. At the time it hoped to keep its Carnaby Street store in London and instead focus on its UK wholesale accounts. High rents and tough trading are believed to have hit the Italian-owned business which launched in the UK a decade ago.

It is believed that Miss Sixty's wholesale business, which sells product to department stores and independent retailers, will continue to operate as normal.

The collapse is the latest in a long line of administrations in the retail sector this year.
