Aldar Properties, the largest developer in Abu Dhabi, has launched a Dh9.4 billion (US$2.56bn) affordable housing project for middle-income nationals.
The 5,000-unit project is the first of five developments that will be announced in coming months by the Urban Planning Council in partnership with private developers.
The villas at Al Falah will start being handed over to the Government in 2011. They will then be given free to Emiratis, said Ahmed al Sayegh, the chairman of Aldar.
