Morrisons has signed as the anchor tenant at the New Brighton Neptune scheme in Liverpool.

The supermarket forms part of urban regeneration specialist Neptune Developments’ £60m facelift of the area.

It will cover around 64,000 sq ft of new retail space and aims to create 300 new jobs.

With outline planning approval already received, Neptune Developments will submit a more detailed application this month.

Rob Mason, Neptune’s development director, said: ‘We are very pleased to be putting our relationship with Morrisons on a formal footing with the signing of this contract. Morrisons will provide shoppers with much more choice and help to attract visitors to New Brighton.’

Chris Evenson, Morrisons development director, said: ‘We are delighted to have exchanged contracts with Neptune Developments on this scheme to continue the resurgence of New Brighton. We look forward to the opening of our new store and providing a purpose-built Morrisons for the people of New Brighton.’
