National Grid has submitted revised plans for the redevelopment of Southall gas works in Ealing, west London.

National Grid Property has submitted the plans for the 84 acre site, to be known as West Southall, to Ealing and Hillingdon Councils and is now awaiting a decision.

Its original plans for the site – which is next to the M4 – were rejected in 2005. It put together the new plans, comprising more than 3,000 homes, following a public consultation and discussions with the council.

National Grid was working with Castlemore on Southall, before ending the agreement last year when the energy giant put its property arm up for sale. Castlemore did not enter back into a partnership on the site when National Grid decided to retain its property holdings.
