Barratt Developments has appointed Bob Lawson as its new non executive chairman.
Lawson, who replaces Charles Toner, joins Barratt from Hays, the recruitment company, where he is chairman.
Toner is retiring after six years on the board. Lawson will step up at the start of the company’s new financial year on 1 July.
His career includes three years as managing director of Vitec Grup and 10 years as chief executive of Electrocomponents.
Toner said: ‘Bob brings a wealth of experience to the company and will provide strong leadership and wise counsel at a challenging time for the sector.'
Lawson said that Barratt’s good reputation was due ‘in no small part’ to outgoing chairman Toner, and said he was keen to start working at Barratt.
