Westminster City Council is mulling plans that would require developers of new hotels in the borough to provide affordable housing, Property Week has learned.

The council is considering including the policy in its new City Plan, which is set to be published next month. It is understood that if the policy is enacted, the affordable housing element could be developed either on or off site.

Westminster’s current policy for residential schemes is that 30% of homes are affordable, but there is no requirement in place for hotels.
