Patrick Evershed, the award winning former fund manager at New Star Asset Management, is taking legal action against his former employer after his sudden dismissal last year.

Evershed, who was on a six-figure salary, will take the company to an employment tribunal claiming constructive dismissal. It is understood he will claim that he was bullied. He declined to comment.

Evershed was asked to leave the company in September after what was described as poor performance. In his final year with the company, his fund underperformed its benchmark by 12%, though it marginally outperformed the Aim index, in which it was heavily invested,

Initial hearings on the case began last week but it will not be heard until the end of April.
