Metnor Property Group has produced a masterplan for the redevelopment of a derelict site in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The developer, working with FaulknerBrowns, wants to connect the Ouseburn in the south and Jesmond in the north to extend the city and restore a disused sporting venue.
The redevelopment includes a 2,000-bed ‘student village’ designed to house students from local universities as well as commercial, retail and office space in 11 blocks.
The developer said: ‘Connecting the dilapidated Portland Green site to this popular area of the city [Ouseburn], and the hive of activity taking place in Jesmond, will re-establish the value and status of this currently heartless land.’
