Nike is to launch a range of stores dedicated to its basketball brands, as it shifts its retail strategy to focuses on specific sports categories rather than monolithic brand buildings. Financial Times

Nike said yesterday it had formed an alliance with Foot Locker to open 50 'House of Hoops' stores in the US over the next three years. The first will open in Harlem in New York early next year, followed by Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Las Vegas.

The new stores represent a break away from Nike’s previous retail strategy of large 'Niketown' stores.
