The Olympic Delivery Authority planning committee has recommended the approval of the planning applications for the Olympic Park.
Following a public meeting held last night at Stratford Circus, the committee made from two ODA members, four councillors from the four affected London boroughs and five independent members, agreed to approve the park. Its decision was announced today.
The recommendation will now go to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Mayor of London for approval.
The park is expected to play host to 180,000 spectators a day. It will serve as the means of access for many of the games’ venues including the Olympic Stadium, aquatics venue, velodrome and BMX circuit as well as the Fencing, Hockey, Handball and Basketball arenas.
It will be built alongside the Olympic Village which will be home to approximately 17,000 athletes and officials.
