A£80m stadium project for Oldham Athletic got the go-ahead last night.

The scheme will kick-start the regeneration of the Boundary Park area of the Greater Manchester town.

The masterplan for the area, created by the Frank Whittle Partnership, includes 550 homes the 16,000 all-seater sports stadium for Oldham Athletic Football Club, 60,000 sq ft of office space, a hotel and conference and banqueting facilities.

Work will start on site early next year.

Future of football club secure

David Robinson, managing partner of FWP, said: ‘This redevelopment will safeguard the future of football in Oldham, giving supporters top class facilities, while significantly improving an area of the town in need of regeneration.’

The sale of the homes will help fund the development of the stadium.
