Oxford Street has been closed between Bond Street and Holles Street due to an unsafe building being redeveloped by Legal & General at 315-319 Oxford Street.

L&G is planning a 21,000 sq ft shop with a double height glazed frontage, while keeping the existing Oxford Street façade. But the facade became unstable earlier today. A project manager on site reported the potential problem at 1.15pm this afternoon and the police closed the road as a precaution.

A Westminster surveyor is currently investigating the site.

The frontage was being retained on the request of English Heritage.
