Parliament expands permitted development rights

Houses of Parliament

Parliament has expanded permitted development rights (PDR) to include the right to turn shops into offices and the right to turn takeaways into residential units.

The changes, which come into force on 25th May, were introduced as part of the Town and Country Planning (Permitted Development, Advertisement and Compensation Amendments) (England) Regulations 2019 and will give developers greater abilities to modify existing buildings without planning permission.
