Developer Peel Holdings today confirmed that it has purchased the Cammell Laird Shipyard in Liverpool from private investor Reddington Finance

Peel has acquired the site for an undisclosed sum as part of the continued expansion of Port of Liverpool.

The 128 acre (52 ha) site has a deep water Channel, dry docks, a wet basin and around 14 tenants in several warehouses on the site.

Peel intends to retain the Cammell Laird site for industrial use and will develop the land to create employment and industrial and port activities.

A spokesman for Peel Holdings said: 'The Cammell Laird site is an ideal opportunity to continue the expansion of Peel's port business here in Merseyside.'
