The RICS has elected former principal of the College of Estate Management Peter Goodacre as President for the 2008/2009 session.

Goodacre, who succeeds David Tuffin in the position, has said that he aims to ensure sufficient numbers of students graduate with the relevant qualifications needed in an "uncomfortable economic climate" and vows to take a particular focus on the problematic effects of population pressure on infrastructure.

The election of Peter Goodacre as president coincides with the appointment of King Sturge property partner Max Crofts as senior vice-president.
