Neptune Developments has submitted an outline planning application to Wirral Council today for the second phase of its New Brighton scheme in Wirral.

The £42m scheme comprises a 60-bedroom budget hotel, cafes, a pedestrian plaza, a 64,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket, a six-screen cinema, a healthclub, a lido, a boating lake and a year round outdoor spa. There could also be a bingo, casino or snooker club within the scheme.

It will not contain a residential element following changes to the scheme after the public enquiry last year. The Marine Lake will remain on its existing site and will be dredged to make it useable again. A new pontoon and sailing school facilities will also be provided and nearby Victorian shelters will be refurbished.

The £18m first phase includes the redevelopment of the Floral Hall Theatre and the development a new town square with cafes and 37 apartments. Funding for the first phase is being provided by the Mersey Waterfront Regional Park, ERDF Objective One and Wirral Council.
