British Land was yesterday granted outline planning consent to develop 63 acres next to its Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield.

The property company was granted consent for a scheme including up to 1,300 homes and 1.2m sq ft of offices on the land south of Meadowhall and bordered on its western side by the River Don.

A hotel, community hub, leisure facilities and a park with sports and play areas are also a part of the plans.

The outline planning application was submitted to Sheffield Council May this year.

Last Week Property Week reported that Raymound Mould and Patrick Vaughan’s London & Stamford was in exclusive talks to buy a 50% stake in the £1.4bn Meadowhall shopping centre.

Terms of the deal include whether part of the new development will be included in the deal.
