Leicester-based developer Bowbridge Group has submitted plans for the £200m redevelopment of the former Corah factory in Leicester city centre.

The plans for the 10 acre site include leisure facilities such as an ice rink and swimming pool as well as homes, shops and office space.

The scheme, if it gets approval from the local council, will be the biggest regeneration project in Leicester since Hammerson’s Highcross Leicester development and work could begin in summer 2009.

Planning consultant Matrix Associates has been working with Bowbridge on the scheme, which will form part of a 15-year plan for redevelopment of the wider area in Leicester between St Margaret’s bus station and Abbey Park.

Nick Townsend of Bowbridge said: ‘We recognised from the outset that the Corah site could really help to integrate the regeneration of the city.’
