Build-to-rent specialist Platform_ has received planning permission for a £100m 498-apartment development as part of Harbert Management Corporation and XLB Property’s Clydeside project in Glasgow.
Platform_ intends to start construction of the BTR apartments, which will mark its debut Scottish development, by the third quarter of 2019, with a scheduled completion in 2021 alongside the wider mixed-use scheme at Broomielaw. Once completed, the development will comprise a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments for rent, spread across four blocks ranging from six to 20-storeys with rents priced “affordable for the 50% of the local workforce”. It will also contain co-working spaces, on-site gym and a shared lounge.
The development forms part of a wider masterplan at the Clydeside Central Quay area, which also includes 300,000 sq ft of office space and a 150-room hotel.
