Developer Centros Miller was granted approval today for the store at its Northern Quarter scheme

John Lewis is one of the two anchor stores at the £350m Northern Quarter scheme.

The application for the building was the first building at the development to be designed in detail, following the granting of outline planning consent for the whole scheme last year.

Chapman Taylor is the architect on the store.

The design – which features textured, coloured iridescent stainless steel cladding – is hoped to create a landmark for the entrance to the city centre.

Centros Miller will now submit a second reserved matters application, which will detail the design of the rest of the buildings within the scheme.
