Pret a Manger is to open the first of its new sandwich kiosk brand at the Pallasades shopping centre in Birmingham.
The company confirmed today Property Week’s story last year (01-12-06) about the launch of the Pret Pod.
The Pret Pod is a stand-alone concept that Pret plans to roll out into stations, airports, retail parks and shopping centres.
It is the first time Pret will open a shop without a kitchen on site and the pods will be serviced by near by Pret shop kitchens. The Pret Pod in Birmingham is around 137 sq ft.
Mike Stevens, property director of Warner Estate Holdings, the owner of the Pallasades, said: ‘The Pret Pod is a modern and innovative idea and Pret a Manger has recognised the opportunity at Pallasades to benefit from a high footfall of potential customers.’
