Land Securities has signed budget retailer Primark as an anchor store at Willow Place in Corby town centre.
Primark is to open a 48,000 sq ft store within the £35m 175,000 sq ft retail scheme which opened in October last year.
The developer is also in advanced negotiations with three major retailers to take the five remaining units in the scheme to join TK Maxx, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Evans, River Island and Jane Norman.
The scheme comprises two anchor stores and 20 shop units arranged around an open single-level street.
Mark Rymell, development manager retail at Land Securities, said: ‘It is the first time that Corby has enjoyed such a strong concentration of major high street retailers in a single location. Visitor numbers have already exceeded targets with shoppers coming from as far afield as Kettering and Peterborough.’
In early March Land Securities submitted a planning application for a second phase of development, known as ‘Evolution Corby’ to further expand the Town Centre.
The retail-led mixed use development, which will be sited adjacent to Willow Place, comprises 3300,185 sq ft of retail incorporating an 120,000 sq ft anchor store and 29 shop units. The proposals also include a 8,000 sq ft sports facility, 350 residential units.
Joint letting agents for Willow Place, Corby, are Chase & Partners and King Sturge.
