Hark Group and Apollo Real Estate Advisors, owners of Telford Shopping Centre, have submitted a planning application to triple the size of the Primark store at the 1m sq ft centre.

The 50,000 sq ft extension, if granted planning permission by Telford & Wrekin Council, will provide an entrance directly onto Ash Grey Car Park and there will be a new shop frontage on Dean Square.

Rob Cossey, director at Hark Group, said: ‘We know that the Town Centre is already successful, but we think that there is real potential to improve it in the future. Primark is just the start for us.’

Hark and Apollo bought Telford Shopping Centre in June this year for £442m from Universities Superannuation Scheme at a net initial yield of 4.86%. RBS financed the purchase.

The shopping centre has 175 stores on a 50 acre site and is part of an area being masterplanned by the local council and urban regeneration company, Transforming Telford. The site contains 20 acres of undeveloped land.
