Liberty International rose 47p to £10.61, Hammerson was up 50p to £12.24, and Segro advanced 19½ to 533½p.

Mid-caps Minerva and Great Portland Estates rose 23 to 278¼p and 37½ to 637p respectively.

Construction companies also benefited. Housebuilder Persimmon was up 34p to £11.98, and builders’ supplier Wolseley rose 29p to £10.51.
