Total EBDADT (earnings before depreciation, amortisation and deferred taxes) for 1998 were up from $1.66 to $1.72 a share. But fourth-quarter earnings were down as a result of an $8.4m (£5.1m) exceptional charge and the capital division made a $16.4m (£8.9m) loss in the third quarter.
