The redevelopment plans have taken a major step forward after the shopping centre was granted a resolution for planning permission, it was announced today

The Oxford Strategic Development Control Committee gave the resolution to the Westgate Partnership, a joint venture between Capital Shopping Centres and Coal Pension Properties announced the decision today. There are 90 additional shops, bars and cafes and 127 city centre apartments planned at the 750,000 sq ft (69,000 sq m) shopping centre.

The planning application will now be sent to the Government Office for the South East owing to its size. The Secretary of State will determine whether the decision should be made by the council or the government office.
