A joint-venture between Essex-based property company Turnstone Estates and RevCap have submitted a planning application for a £50m mixed-use scheme in the centre of Ipswich.

The retail-led scheme would provide 120,000 sq ft of shops on the site of the former Ipswich city centre.

A mix of apartments, restaurants and cafes, and an amphitheatre would also be provided under the joint venture’s plans.

‘This retail-led development responds to the pent-up demand we know exists in the town, and especially to the lack of modern retailing space within the Town Centre,’ said Turnstone Estates director Nick Scott.

‘Subject to planning approval, construction of the scheme will begin in summer 2009 with completion scheduled for spring 2011.’

CBRE and Savills have been appointed the scheme’s letting agents.
