A forum of trade unions, employers and construction groups is to be held next month as part of a government drive to tackle the rising number of deaths in the industry.
Peter Hain, the work and pensions secretary, said he would bring together all sides of the building sector on 17 September to discuss ways of improving safety.
In the past 12 months there have been 77 construction deaths, a five-year high.
