Sainsbury's has signed up to anchor a regeneration project in Glossop, Derbyshire.

The supermarket has agreed a development agreement with Glossop Land to bring forward a mixed use scheme including restaurants, retail, leisure and residential units centred around the Sainsbury's store and the Woods Mill.

The two parties are now working on a planning application to be submitted to High Peak Borough Council.

Sainsbury's key for development

The old mill is likely to be converted into housing. The development follows Glossop Land’s Howard Town Mill development in the town, scheduled for completion this year.

Mike Ryan, director of Glossop Land and B&R Developments, said: ‘Securing the commitment of Sainsbury's means that the regeneration of Glossop Town Centre can now be realistically achieved.’
