Schroder Property has pulled off a coup by recruiting one of the UK’s best-known property fund managers.

Ian Mason, the head of property at BlackRock and in its previous guise as Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, is joining Schroders as head of UK fund

management. Mason will be reunited with his former Merrill Lynch colleague Paul Taylor, who is product manager.

The appointment is part of the expansion of the Schroders senior management team.

Earlier this year Schroders bought Aareal Asset Management and added six continental European offices.

Range
Mason will be responsible for the performance of Schroders’ entire UK fund range, which includes WELPUT, SERPUT, ResPUT and Hercules Unit Trust.

He will report to Neil Turner, head of global property fund management.

William Hill, Schroders’ head of property said: ‘Whilst we have expanded internationally, the UK business continues to be a key area for growth. Ian will be concentrating purely on our UK business.’
