Developer Scotsbridge Holdings has announced plans to create a £55m luxury retirement development just outside Glasgow in a sector first for Scotland.
The Glasgow and Singapore-based group led by Shazad Bakhsh, claims it will be the first purpose built retirement development of its kind in Scotland. The Netherplace Retirement Development will be constructed in a countryside setting just outside the Glasgow suburb of Newton Mearns on a 17-acre former industrial site.
Baksh said it can “become one of the most innovative new communities for over 55s anywhere in the UK” and provide some £75m of inward investment to East Renfrewshire over the next 30 years. The council are set to decide on the scheme’s future this month.
