Independent lingerie retailer Secret Drawer has agreed to open a store in the Whitechapel area of Liverpool’s Metquarter shopping centre.

Secret Drawer, is owned by local entrepreneur Leona Nicholas, and will open for trading next month at the 135,600 sq ft scheme. The rent was not disclosed.

Jennina O’Neill, head of marketing at the Metquarter, said: ‘The opening of Secret Drawer reflects our ambition to support Liverpool’s thriving fashion and design industry.’

Secret Drawer will join other retailers including DKNY Jeans, Flannels, Hugo Boss and MAC, The centre has witnessed an average footfall increase of more than 20% over the first two quarters which has out-performed the national average. It also saw a like-for-like sales growth of 15%.

The Metquarter shopping centre is owned by Anglo Irish Bank Private Banking and Alanis Capital, the investment vehicle of the Dublin-based McCormack family.
