Segro has made between 20 and 30 redundancies today as part of a restructuring of the business.

Chief executive Ian Coull said it was not a reaction to the market, but rather part of the wider restructuring he had implemented over the last three years.

The company is splitting most of its activities into its two main operating businesses, the UK and Europe.

Ian Sutcliffe runs the UK business and Inès Reinmann runs the European business.

Reinmann will also join the Segro board on 1 November.

Walter Hens, director of group business development, is also to retire from the company by the end of this year.

Coull said: ‘The changes inside the business are about the ongoing change programme to make the business leaner, more efficient, and more responsive to customers.

'The two leaders of the business units can do this in a more dynamic way.’
