Shanghai will more than double the supply of land this year for housing projects to help cool rising real-estate prices, the Shanghai Daily said, citing the city’s mayor Han Zheng.

Another 1,200 hectares will be authorized in the city for new residential projects later this year, bringing the total supply to 1,600 hectares for the whole year, the Shanghai-based newspaper said on its Web site.

Last year, 700 hectares of land were allotted for residential development, the newspaper said.
