Funding deals at Bluewater and Milton Keynes saw investment statistics for the south-east rocket at the expense of the north-west, which plummeted from 24% of total shopping centre investment in 1997 to just 3% in 1998. Scotland also suffered with a drop from 13% to 8%. The Midlands remained static.
