The Crown Estate has appointed Alistair Smart, former retail development director at Lend Lease, as head of development for its Regent Street portfolio.
Smart will take up the role, which will see him managing all the development projects across the £1.8bn Regent Street portfolio, in late spring.
A spokesman for the Crown Estate said the ‘head of development’ role had been created to handle the increased development activity on Regent Street including the 1m sq ft Quadrant redevelopment at its south end.
The Crown Estate has announced its intention to focus on the development of its Regent Street properties, where it owns all the freeholds from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus, as well as its St James properties.
Before joining Lend Lease, Smart was a director of shopping centre development at Hillier Parker (now owned by CB Richard Ellis).
