Europe’s largest smoothie bar operator, Zumo Smoothie Bars, has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to find locations for its next ten UK outlets, all planned for opening in 2008.

The company, which currently has 25 outlets in England and Wales, is looking to open 200 stores over the next 15 years.

Zumo is looking for covered schemes in shopping centres with a minimum footfall of 175,000 shoppers a week. It is looking for mall kiosks of 180 sq ft plus.

It is also in discussions to appoint advisors for similar expansion across Europe.

Drive to expand

Zumo’s head of franchise development, Anthony Round, said: ‘Smoothie bars are growing in popularity as shopping centres join the drive for healthy refreshments and Zumo is growing with that trend.

‘It is now the biggest smoothie brand in Europe, with presence in France, Spain, Germany, Austria and Norway as well as outlets in the wider world, particularly Russia and South Africa. Cushman & Wakefield will add to both the efficiency and speed of the drive to expand.’

Andrew Hynes of Cushman and Wakefield said: ‘There are real synergies between us and Cushman & Wakefield's expertise in the shopping centre market will bring real value in helping Zumo drive the brand to its target market.’
