Roger Southam, chairman and chief Executive of retail asset management specialist Chainbow, has joined the board of aAIM Europe.

Southam joins as a non-executive director, and will take on the role of director of shopping centres. He will be responsible for formulating the strategy for the management of the fund’s European shopping centres.

AAIM Europe is targeting E1bn (£680m) of Central and Eastern Europe property investment in the next 12 months. It currently owns two shopping centres in Poland: the Lakeside Galeria Shopping Centre in Konin and Galeria Gniezno in Gniezno.

Southam will work alongside AAIM Europe chief executive Robert Whitton and, Stuart Cunliffe and Simon Williams, the Donaldsons Europe duo seconded to aAIM Europe in May 2006.

Commenting on the appointment, Whitton said: ‘Roger will play a fundamental role in driving value from our existing and future centre holdings. Roger’s well-known for his dexterity and determination, and he brings an enviable reputation in asset management to the table.’
