St Mirren football club has been handed the keys as a part of a deal that sees Tesco take over its former ground.

The Scottish Premier League side has moved from Love Street in Paisley, its home for 115 years, to Greenhill Road.

Tesco has bought the Love Street site in a deal understood to be worth £15m.

It has planning consent to build a supermarket at Love Street, but submitted a new application for a housing development at the end of November.

The new St Mirren Park, which was project-managed by Arcadis AYH, includes five-a-side pitches offices, and corporate hospitality facilities.

St Mirren FC, currently eighth in the SPL, was able to clear debts of around £2.2m through the sale.
