St. Modwen is working with Somerset County Council on a 75,000 sq ft Heritage Centre to house Somerset’s historical artefacts.

The two buildings cover 30,785 sq ft and 45,037 sq ft and are due for completion in 2010, forming part of Taunton’s Langford Mead site.

They are part of an overall plan to expand the museum in Taunton and to allow wider public access to local history.

Langford Mead is the £100m redevelopment of a former industrial estate and MoD site and is one of the largest and most significant commercial construction projects to be developed in Taunton for at least 10 years.

Of the final 240,00 sq ft of commercial space to be built on site (in addition to 550 residential dwellings), over 135,000 sq ft has already been committed to tenants and purchasers at the development.

Somerset County Council is working closely with St. Modwen on the design and development of the two buildings.
