Stockport Council has commissioned a review of Stockport town centre and borough.

The review will aim to turn it into a key business location, complimenting the Town Centre Masterplan.

Councillor Kevin Hogg, executive member for regeneration said: 'Stockport is an active, ambitious borough and we are keen to build upon and develop our strong offer for the future. This commission will build upon the Town Centre masterplan, as well as a number of exciting projects already underway, for example the £13m flagship office development on the A6.'

Stockport Council launched the Town Centre Masterplan ‘Future Stockport’ in 2005. The plan involves the regeneration of the town, including a new shopping and leisure centre, more than 1,000 new homes, and a modern transport interchange connecting the bus and rail station.

DTZ, supported by Faber Maunsell, will undertake the study.
