Plans for a residential scheme to house 1,000 Swansea University students have been submitted to the local council.

The development, by Unit Holdings and DFWJ, will consist of five residential blocks on the banks of the River Tawe in Swansea.

The plans provide for the student accommodation and an extra 349 apartments to be built at the 7.7-acre site.

Regeneration catalyst

This development will act as a catalyst for the overall regeneration of the Tawe Riverside corridor,’ said Andrew Cox, associate at Savills who acted for the developers. ‘It marks a big transformation of an area that is underused, and is a site of real strategic importance.’

The site is being developed as a part of Swansea University expansion plans.

The plans also include a shop, riverside café, improvements to an adjacent park and a new river walkway.

Savills’ Bristol planning and development teams are advising.
