Robert Tchenguiz is to put his Laurel pub company into administration in a move likely to spark anger among landlords, employees and the taxman.

Laurel, which runs 460 pubs and restaurants, will appoint insolvency specialist Kroll to handle the move after failing to find buyers for 95 loss-making outlets.

Tchenguiz plans to put the entire pub estate into administration and then buy back the business without the loss-making sites.
