Robert Tchenguiz claims to have received 47% shareholder backing for a £104m takeover offer for La Tasca, the Spanish-themed restaurant chain. Financial Times

Two weeks ago, La Tasca recommended shareholders accept a 200p-a-share cash offer from a consortium led by Tchenguiz and dropped its backing for an offer of 192p from rival restaurant group Tragus, which is owned by private equity group Blackstone.

A statement from R20, Tchenguiz's bid vehicle, said: 'The bidder now owns or has received irrevocable undertakings ... representing approximately 47.04% of the entire issued ordinary share capital of La Tasca.'

Tragus, which owns the Bella Italia and Café Rouge chains, has declined to increase its offer.
