Terrace Hill has been granted planning permission for its Design Centre for the north at the Baltic Business Quarter in Gateshead.

The 45,000 sq ft building is being developed as a design hub targeting tenants from the creative industries.

One half of the building will be run as the design hub by RTC North, a technology transfer and commercialisation consultancy, in partnership with the universities of Newcastle, Teeside and Northumbria.

The remaining 20,000 sq ft is being marketed as flexible commercial office space for the region’s design companies.

The Design Centre is a public/private partnership between Terrace Hill and regional development agency One North East.

It was designed by Red Box Design Group and letting agents are DTZ and Sanderson Weatherall.
