Energy giant npower has taken more than 100,000 sq ft of office space at Terrace Hill’s £300m Baltic Business Quarter by the River Tyne in Gateshead.

It has taken 110, 000 sq ft across three office buildings, with an option on a further 80,000 sq ft, at £17/sq ft.

Martin Vickerman, director at Terrace Hill, said: ‘This is a tremendous boost for the economy of Gateshead, Newcastle and the North East. It underlines the fact that we are attracting quality occupiers from across the country and Europe.’

The Open University has bought a neighbouring office at the scheme and will move into the 19,500 sq ft office building later this summer.

Terrace Hill is also building a speculative 24,000 sq ft office block called Baltimore House which will also be ready this summer.

Agents for the scheme are Sanderson Weatherall’s Newcastle office and DTZ.
