Tesco faces costs of at least $39.6m (£20.2m) if an environmental lobby group succeeds in getting an injunction to prevent the building of a warehouse to supply its new US stores. Daily Telegraph.

Tesco plans more than 100 ‘Fresh & Easy’ stores in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada, and is building a distribution centre at a former airbase in California.

However, it has met with opposition from Health First, a group thought to be connected to environmental groups and unions, which has applied for a court injunction to stop the project.

The court is expected to rule on the request for an injunction next week.
