Tesco has got the go ahead for a store at St Mellons District Centre in Cardiff.

Advised by DPP, Tesco has secured a resolution to grant consent which will see the demolition of the existing Tesco store and six small retail units, and the construction of a 79,300 sq ft Tesco store on stilts, plus 11 smaller retail units.

Cardiff Council's planning committee resolved to grant consent last month, subject to a section 106 Agreement which is currently being finalised.

Felix Gummer, regional corporate affairs manager for Tesco Stores , said: ‘ We were very pleased with the decision and the way in which we were able to engage with representatives of the local community of St Mellons throughout the planning process to deliver this much needed replacement district centre.’
