A 1960s 'brutalist'-style car park that featured in the classic film Get Carter is set to be demolished to make way for developments that include a Tesco store. Financial Times
The retailer and Gateshead council yesterday confirmed that the building would be demolished in the autumn.
The car park was designed by Owen Luder in 1964 and opened in 1969.
Consultation on the redevelopment begins shortly.
